Artist of DAY 5 / Thu, April 19
Curator: Emil Clément Lüth (DK)
Filip Vest (b. 1995) is an artist and curator who works with performance, installation, video and text. His work revolves around how knowledge and experience is produced and shapes how we perceive our surroundings. Filip is a student at Malmö Art Academy and runs the exhibition space Delfi in Malmö.
Project for EC1 24H:
In 4 phases of artistic exploration, examination and cross-sectioning of different enthological concepts of therapy, both ancient and contemporary, the exhibition space will transform throughout the day and provide a transcendental frame for visitors and Birds alike.
13:00 – 15:00
Through objects, installation, drawings, video and recitation, the first phase will be an encounter with formerly ‘lost knowledge’. Profound earthly philosophies of therapy will be retrived and reflect on its modern scientific counterparts.
15:30 – 16:00
‘Breatharianism’ – Performance by Bird.
A series of Okinawan breathing exercises will unfold – higlighting an often underestimated facet of many historical therapy beliefs:
B r e a t h i n g. Furthermore hinting towards the radical belief of the Breatharianism dogma; sustaining life with only water, air & energy.
16:00 – 17:00
‘Spring Cleaning’ – Silent performance by Bird.
Before we all ascend to the last phase & Paradise: Club La Santa.
The Bird will purify and clean out the exhibition space in a meditative Hausfrau-intervention.
17:30 – 18:00
‘Club La Santa or The Odyssey of My Hips’ – Lecture performance by Filip Vest.
With hula hoops and sporty pace, Filip Vest reflects on his holiday to a sports resort through a coordinate system inspired by the American sociologist Joshua Meyrovitz.
